OUR JOURNEY

The story of Rockstarz began in 2005, when Laura and her friends took a trip to New Orleans.

One night, they stopped at Coyote Ugly. The energy—singing, dancing, and pure fun—lit a spark. Laura and Jenny turned to each other and decided: “We need a bar like this.”
But when Hurricane Katrina hit, their trip was cut short, and they were forced to return home early.
Weeks later, while on a family trip to Tunica, Mississippi, they stopped in Memphis. On Beale Street, they walked into a karaoke bar buzzing with frozen drinks, costumes, and a packed crowd. Laura’s husband looked at her and said: “You need a bar like this: frozen drinks, karaoke, and more.”

BACK IN MICHIGAN

Laura got serious. She began searching with her broker for the perfect spot and eventually stumbled upon a run-down local bar known as Jamie’s.

The coolers were broken, the fryers were shot, the seats were falling apart, and business had slowed to a crawl. Still, Laura saw potential.
It took three years of persistence and vision, but Laura transformed Jamie’s into Rockstarz. With new lights, a revamped stage, fresh floors, and a dance floor full of life, the bar was reborn. For the next decade, Rockstarz ruled Michigan nightlife. Two-for Tuesdays, Wacky Wednesdays, Thirsty Thursdays, and karaoke weekends where YOU were the star. Guests left not only with memories but even CDs of their performances. Word spread quickly, and soon Rockstarz was attracting national attention. Celebrities like Demi Moore, Ron Perlman, and many others walked through the doors, joining locals in the party atmosphere. Lines stretched down the block, nights ran late, and Rockstarz cemented itself as the destination for great food, great drinks, and unforgettable nights.

Then COVID.

Around that time, the country sound was everywhere- on every radio station and in the air.

To adapt, Rockstarz rebranded as Renegades. But while the effort was bold, it never took off the way Rockstarz had.
And now, here we are in 2025. Renegades is a thing of the past, and Rockstarz is back to its roots —frozen drinks, karaoke that brings the house down, shot specials every hour, and free popcorn to make room for late-night pizza.
Jenny’s words still ring true today:
“There’s no party like a Rockstarz party.”
